Zambian boy clears SEE examination from Tokyo-based Nepali school

KATHMANDU: A Zambian student from a Nepali school in Tokyo, Japan, has passed this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE).

According to Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, principal of Everest International School, Tokyo, student Chisa Tyrus Kaweja secured 2.95 GPA in the examination.

A total of 23 students, including 14 girls, appeared in the SEE examination from the school this year. “All of them passed the examination. Most of them have secured above 3.8 GPA,” Bhatta added.

The results of the Tokyo-based school can be termed excellent given that more than half of the students appearing in the examination failed.  A total of 242,092, or 52.14% of the total examinees, secured NG (No Grade) in the examination which means they are ineligible to enroll in Grade 11. However, students securing NG in less than two subjects can appear in the grade improvement explanation.

This was the fourth batch of students that appeared in the SEE examination from the school established in 2013. Started with just 16 students, the school now has 450 students including both migrant Nepalis and foreign nationals. Six Japanese students are also studying in the school.
