KATHMANDU: The main opposition, Nepali Congress (NC), has agreed to allow Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, to address the parliament.
After holding a discussion with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday, the NC, which had been obstructing the House session demanding the formation of a parliamentary inquiry panel to probe allegations of cooperative fraud against Lamichhane, agreed to allow the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President to put forth his points in parliament.
As per the understanding reached among the leaders, a meeting of the lower house scheduled for 11 am on Thursday has been rescheduled for 4 pm.
According to NC lawmaker Ram Hari Khatiwada, NC leaders will also address the parliament after Lamichhane’s address.
Earlier on Wednesday, leaders of the ruling coalition had reached an understanding to form an inquiry panel as demanded by the main opposition.
