KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, has stated that Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) ministers in the coalition government will step down if they fail to deliver.
Addressing a program organized on the occasion of Holi at Khairahani in Chitwan on Sunday, Lamichhane said that the RSP joined the government upon realizing its potential to serve the people since no single party held a majority in the House of Representatives. “The decision was made based on the belief that if we can effectively serve the people by being part of the government, then why not take the risk,” he said. “We have realized that we cannot sit idle in these four years and watch the chaos unfold. There is a lot of work to do. We are committed to delivering results.”
Lamichhane also said that joining the government provides the party with an opportunity to serve the citizens. “The journey ahead is long. If we fail to deliver, we will not cling to power. We are carrying resignation letters in our bags,” he added.
Furthermore, Lamichhane also assured party supporters that RSP has not deviated from its election commitments. “We have prioritized the agenda of the citizens above all else. Our presence is not to shield, accuse, or safeguard anyone,” he said. “Some progress is already visible since we joined the government. What you are seeing is only the trailer, we’ll present the full movie soon.”
