KATHMANDU: Various trade unions representing civil servants have called for action against police personnel involved in the assault of a staff member at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Immigration Office.
Five unions of civil servants jointly submitted a memorandum to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, on Sunday and said they would halt immigration services nationwide if necessary action is not taken against the police personnel.
Police personnel can be seen manhandling Immigration Officer Chhaya Lal Moktan at TIA in a CCTV footage published by different media outlets on Friday. The altercation reportedly erupted after Moktan refused to undergo a police check.
