KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) has finalized its candidate for the National Assembly election scheduled for January 25.
The party selected the names immediately after the ruling coalition reached a consensus on seat-sharing among its partners. According to the understanding reached on Sunday, the Maoist Center will field its candidates in six seats—one each in six out of seven provinces.
Maoist Center General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung stated that Champadevi Karki (Koshi), Shreekrishna Adhikari (Bagmati), Manarupa Sharma (Gandaki), Bishnu BK (Karnali), Jhakku Subedi (Lumbini), and Renu Chand (Sudurpashchim) will be contesting the National Assembly election as the common candidate of the ruling coalition.
Twenty seats, including one to be appointed by the President, in the upper house are becoming vacant on March 4.
