NC decides to form alliance in National Assembly election

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has decided to form an alliance in the National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25.

Informing reporters about the decisions taken by the Central Working Committee meeting of the party on Sunday, Min Bahadur Bishwakarma, chief of the Publicity Department of NC, said that the Central Working Committee has decided to hold discussions with the coalition partners before selecting candidates for the National Assembly election. “We have decided to continue the alliance in the National Assembly election as well. We will field common candidates of the ruling coalition partners in the election,” Bishwakarma said.

NC has also decided to give opportunities to new faces. “Those who have not received opportunities and have made long contributions to the party will get priority. We will also consider geography and community while selecting candidates,” he added.

According to Bishwakarma, the meeting also concluded that the government has failed to win the trust of the people. “Transparency and good governance are basic tenets of democracy. Despite positive efforts of the government, people don’t seem to be confident with the government on this,” Bishwakarma said. “The meeting has decided to draw the attention of the government to take effective policies for ensuring peace and good governance.”
