KATHMANDU: Newly appointed six justices of the Supreme Court were sworn in on Thursday.
Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justices Saranga Subedi, Abdul Aziz Musalman, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, Sunil Kumar Pokharel, and Bal Krishna Dhakal at the Office of the President.
President Ram Chandra Poudel appointed the six Supreme Court Justices on Wednesday.
The Judicial Council recommended the six names to fill the vacant positions of Justices at the Supreme Court on November 21. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee endorsed the recommendations on Tuesday.
Saranga Subedi, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, and Abdul Aziz Musalman were previously serving as High Court Judges. Subedi was deputed at Janakpur High Court, while Poudel and Dhungana were serving at Patan High Court, and Musalman at the Hetadua bench of Patan High Court.
Senior Advocate Sunil Kumar Pokharel and Bal Krishna Dhakal were recommended from the quota of legal practitioners.
