KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu, has issued prohibitory orders in six locations.

According to the orders enforced on Wednesday by Chief District Officer Jitendra Basnet, no group of more than five people can organize protest programs such as processions, demonstrations, sit-ins, hunger strikes, and meetings in these locations for two months.

Prohibitory orders have been issued in locations around the Office of the President, Prime Minister’s Residence, Singha Durbar, Office of the Vice President, Parliament Building and Maitighar Mandala.

“The prohibitory orders have been issued taking into consideration the security situation in Kathmandu on the recommendation of the District Security Committee,” a notice issued by the DAO Kathmandu reads.

Prohibited Areas:

  1. Office of the President: Until old Pabitra Work Shop intersection in the east, rivulet on the road to Samakhushi in the west, South-Eastern Gate of the National Police Training Academy in the north, and the road to Police Hospital in the south.
  2. Prime Minister’s Residence: The road from Old Pabitra Work Shop to Italia intersection via the Russian Embassy; 100 meters of the road from the Speaker’s Residence toward Gairidhara, 100 meters of the road to Lazimpat from the Chief Justice’s Residence, 100 meters east on the road from the Nepal Rastra Bank intersection; and 50 meters south from the Italian intersection.
  3. Office of the Vice President: From Keshar Mahal intersection to Malla Hotel via Lainchaur intersection.
  4. Parliament Building: Roads toward the east, west, and southeast of the Parliament Building premises.
  5. Singhadurbar: Road section from Bhadrkali Temple till Singh Durbar Main Gate; road section from Padmodaya intersection till Maitighar Mandala via the Supreme Court; road section from Padmodya intersection toward Anamnagar, eastern gate of Singh Durbar till Hanumansthan; and the road from Kathmandu District Court to Hanumanstan Temple via DAO Kathmandu.
  6. Maitighar Mandala: Roads on all four sides of Maitighar Mandala; and road from Maitighar Mandala to New Baneshwar intersection via Bijuli Bazaar.
