KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha received earthquake relief materials from the Chinese government at the Pokhara International Airport on Wednesday.
Chinese ambassador to Nepal Chen Song handed over the relief materials to the Deputy Prime Minister amid a ceremony on the airport premises. The relief materials consist of blankets, and tarpaulins, among others, and were brought by two Xi’an Y20 aircraft of the Chinese Air Force.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support to Nepal in times of crisis. He emphasized the strong and mutually beneficial Nepal-China relationship, built on principles of sovereignty and independence. Shrestha also acknowledged China’s significant assistance during the 2015 earthquakes and the Covid-19 pandemic.
Likewise, Ambassador Chen Song reaffirmed the friendly relations between Nepal and China, highlighting their support for each other during times of crisis. He also expressed condolences for the November 3 earthquake in Jarjarkot.
