House endorses condolence motion in honor of Nembang

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) has endorsed a condolence motion in honor of the late Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairperson, former Speaker, and member of the House of Representatives, Subash Chandra Nembang.

The motion presented by Speaker Devraj Ghimire was unanimously endorsed in the session of the House of Representatives on Thursday. The meeting expressed deep sorrow over Nembang’s demise while extending condolences to his grieving family members. A minute of silence was also observed in the session.

Nembang passed away at 1 am on Monday. Born in Suntalabari, Ilam, on March 11, 1953, Nembang joined politics from his school days itself. Nembang was elected to the National Assembly in 1991 and 1995. He was elected to the House of Representatives from Ilam in 1999. He was appointed Speaker of the reinstated parliament in 2007, before serving as the chairman of two constituent assemblies. Nembang played a pivotal role in the drafting and promulgation of the Nepal Constitution through the Constituent Assembly.

The next meeting of the House of Representatives has been scheduled for 1 pm on September 15.
