Nepal stands firm and clear on its map: MoFA

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that Npeal stands firm and clear on its political and administrative map unanimously approved by the parliament in 2020.

Issuing a press release on Friday, the ministry said Nepal unequivocally believes that this map must be respected by our neighbors as well as the international community.

The foreign ministry’s response came after China included areas like Kalapani, Lipulek, and Limpiyadhura, which were integrated into Nepal’s new map in 2020, as part of India in its new map published on August 21.

“Nepal remains committed to resolving the boundary matters through dialogues and diplomacy,” the ministry said in its release.

China had supported India’s claim over the Kalapani, Lipulek, and Limpiyadhura regions earlier. However, the Sushil Koirala-led government protested the Chinese stance and sent a diplomatic note to China.

After receiving the diplomatic note, China responded by claiming ignorance about the new map.
