KATHMANDU: The Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) and the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology (TIO) have signed an agreement to expand eye care services in Karnali Province.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Nepal Eye Programme, TIO, and KAHS in the presence of Minister for Health and Population Mohan Bahadur Basnet on Friday.
According to the MoU, TIO will provide modern healthcare equipment to KAHS for the expansion of eye care services in Karnali Province.
During the event, Minister Basnet expressed hope that the MoU would facilitate the delivery of contemporary eye treatments to the people in remote Karnali Province. “We are confident that the collaboration between these two institutions will result in improved eye care services in the province. The ministry is fully committed to supporting this noble endeavor,” he stated.
Similarly, Dr Sanduk Ruit, the founder and director of TIO, said that the TIO would supply state-of-the-art healthcare equipment to KAHS. “We are dedicated to providing a wide range of modern healthcare equipment and establishing facilities for eye treatment. Correspondingly, we will extend our assistance to offer various eye treatments, including cataract surgeries, to the inhabitants of Karnali Province – an area known for its remote and challenging geographical conditions,” Dr. Ruit said.
Likewise, Dr. Mangal Rawal, the Vice Chancellor of KAHS, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the MoU. He assured that the KAHS would initiate various forms of eye treatments within a few months.
