Nepal edges Kuwait by eight wickets

KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Kuwait by 34 runs in its second match of the MCA Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday.

Batting first, Nepal was bundled out for 89 runs, losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. However, Nepali bowlers restricted Kuwait to 55 runs, to earn second victory in as many games in the series.

Indu Barma top-scored for Nepal with a 19-ball 23, while opener Bindu Rawal contributed 20 runs from 45 balls. Kajal Shrestha scored an unbeaten 19 runs from 18 balls. Puja Mahatto and Kabita Kunwar returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs, and five other batters failed to reach double digits for Nepal.

Mariamma Hyder took four wickets for Kuwait, while Maryam Omar claimed two wickets. Priyada Murali and Khadija Khali each chipped in with a wicket.

Despite chasing a low score, Kuwait failed to impress with the bat. Opener Zeefa Jilani top-scored for her side with 11 runs from 19 balls, and Khadija Khali scored 10 runs. However, other Kuwaiti batters couldn’t reach double digits.

Indu Barma took three wickets for Nepal, while Khushi Dangol contributed with two wickets. Kabita Kunwar, Sita Rana Magar, and Ishwori Bista each secured a wicket to their names.

Malaysia Cricket Association is organizing the MCA Women’s T20 Quadrangular Series which also includes Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Nepal will play its next match against the hosts, Malaysia, on Friday
