KATHMANDU: The National Examination Board (NEB) has released the results of the Class 12 examinations today. The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the NEB on Tuesday afternoon.
Addressing the press conference, NEB Chairman Dr. Mahashram Sharma revealed that approximately 50.09% of the examinees have successfully passed the examination. “This year’s results show an improvement of about three percentage points compared to last year,” he said.
In the previous year, 48% of the examinees had passed the examination.
According to Sharma, 49.01% of the examinees receive a ‘non-graded’ status this year. Students who received a ‘non-graded’ status in two subjects will be allowed to participate in grade increment exams immediately. However, those with ‘non-graded’ status in more than two subjects will need to reappear for the exams next year.
Some 56,000 students, who received ‘non-graded’ status in more than two subjects last year, sat in the examination this year, according to NEB.
NEB officials say examinees failing to secure a minimum of 35 marks in theoretical subjects are assigned a ‘non-graded’ status.
The Class 12 examinations were held from May 9 to May 19 across 1,457 examination centers located throughout the country.
