KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu marked India’s 77th Independence Day on Tuesday with fervor and enthusiasm.

The celebration was a part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative which was launched by the Government of India in March 2021. This initiative aims to honor the significant milestone of 75 years of India’s independence, according to a press release issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, unfurled the Indian national flag on the premises of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. On the occasion, Srivastava conveyed heartfelt greetings to the Indian diaspora in Nepal.

During the event, a video message by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, was also shared. In her address, Murmu reflected on the sacrifices made by India’s freedom fighters in their pursuit of national independence. She also acknowledged India’s leadership role within international forums, particularly during its presidency of the G-20.
