KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has agreed to lift House obstructions.
In a meeting of senior leaders from the three major political parties – the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, and CPN (Maoist Center) – the UML agreed to allow House proceedings to resume.
UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula stated that the meeting had agreed to allow the Minister for Home Affairs to present his views on the ongoing investigation of the 100 kg gold smuggling case. He added, “However, we will continue our obstructions if our demands are not addressed.”
Bartaula also mentioned that the ruling coalition has adopted a policy of creating division among the opposition parties.
The meeting of senior leaders held on Monday to find a way out of the impasse ended inconclusively.
UML has been demanding the formation of a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the smuggling.
