KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Dhanraj Gurung has announced that the party’s 15th general convention will elect Shekhar Koirala as the President.
“We actively participated in the 14th general convention with the campaign for party transformation. The campaign hasn’t ended yet,” Gurung said, addressing a function organized on the occasion of BP Memorial Week in Kathmandu on Tuesday. “I am also in favor of changing the President. But it is not possible now. That is why we have set the 15th general convention as the target for the party’s transformation.”
Gurung also emphasized that the party should be able to deliver to the nation and its people. He urged party leaders and cadres to join hands with him in the process of party transformation. “The party will undergo a transformation for the betterment of the country. First, we need to change ourselves. Those who cannot transform themselves cannot transform the country,” Gurung added.
NC general secretaries, especially Gagan Kumar Thapa, is actively campaigning for leadership transformation in the party before the 15th general convention.
