KATHMANDU: Nepal will play Pakistan in the opening match of the 2023 Asia Cup on August 30.

According to the tournament fixtures made public by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Wednesday, the opening match of the ODI tournament of men’s teams from Asia will be held in Multan on August 30.

Nepal will then travel to Kandy, Sri Lanka, for its second match against India on September 2.

Nepal is placed in Group A along with India and Pakistan, while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan are in Group B.

ACC decided to host most of the matches of the 2023 Asia Cup following India’s reluctance to play in Pakistan. Pakistan will host three matches of the group stage.

Two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4. The Super 4 matches will begin on September 6. Pakistan will host one of the six Super 4 matches, while the remaining five matches will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The final will be held on September 17 in Colombo.
