There are two waterfalls in Nepal going by the name Fungfunge. While one cascades in Mikwakhola Rural Municipality in Taplejung, the other enchants visitors in Kakani of Nuwakot district. Both waterfalls derive the same name with the same cultural and religious significance.
Fungfunge of Taplejung stands tall at approximately 300 meters in height and was listed as one of the top 100 tourist destinations in Nepal to visit in 2022. It is the second tallest waterfall in Nepal, trailing the Hyatung Waterfall in Terhathum by only 65 meters.
Located approximately 40 kilometers north of the bustling Kathmandu Valley, the Fungfunge Waterfall in Nuwakot district is nestled in the lush green forest home to different species of flora and fauna. Cradled against a rocky mountain slope, the falls stand tall, reaching an estimated height of over a hundred meters. Despite its close proximity to the capital and the abundance of captivating panoramic views and natural wonders, this hidden gem remains relatively undiscovered.
