LUMBINI: Four persons, including two siblings, have lost their lives in Kapilvastu due to snakebites in the past two days.

Deepak Bhusal (12) and his brother Pradeep (9) of Buddhabhumi-1 were bitten by snakes while sleeping on the floor with their grandmother at home on Monday night. Finding them unconscious the next morning, family members rushed them to Lumbini Provincial Hospital in Butwal. Unfortunately, one of them passed away on the way, while the other succumbed to the snake bite while receiving treatment.

The boys’ father had died in a road accident a few years ago, and their mother is currently in a foreign country in the course of employment.

Similarly, Mamata Raidas (16) of Buddhabhumi-10 also fell victim to a snake bite on Monday morning. She was promptly taken to the Snakebite Treatment Center in Gorusinghe but was later referred to District Hospital, Taulihawa, where she was declared dead.

Likewise, Anita Yadav (30) of Maharajgunj Municipality was bitten by a cobra on Monday afternoon while gathering fodder. She passed away en route to Lumbini Provincial Hospital in Butwal for medical treatment.
