PM Dahal won’t step down: Ruling coalition

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has decided that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will not step down.

Leaders of the ruling coaliation met on Thurdsay morning after the opposition parties obstructed Hosue session on Wednesday demanding resignation of PM Dahal over his recent statement.

Speaking at the launching event of the book ‘Roads to the Valley: The Legacy of Pritam Singh in Nepal’ by Kiran Deep Sandhu in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Dahal stated, “Singh worked hard and made repeated visits to New Delhi to make me Prime Minister.”

Talking to reporters after the meeting, CPN (Unified Socialist) Vice Chairman Rajendra Pandey stated that it is against parliamentary norms to demand the Prime Minister’s resignation. “The meeting of the ruling coalition discussed the Prime Minister’s statement and concluded that he will not step down. The Prime Minister will address questions raised in parliament, but he will not resign,” he added.

Pandey also said the ruling coalition held a discussion on a Bill related to loan-shark victims. “The main opposition CPN-UML didn’t allow the Bill to pass under the pretext of demanding PM Dahal’s resignation. The government will table the Bill again,” he added.
