KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has urged Chinese investors to invest in Nepal.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 19th Western China International Trade Fair in Chengdu, China, on Thursday, Shrestha informed Chinese investors that Nepal has adopted a policy of encouraging, promoting, and protecting foreign investment, and has implemented significant reforms to facilitate foreign direct investment (FDI).
“We have adopted a business and investment-friendly policy for FDI,” he said. “Come, invest in Nepal. We guarantee the security of your investment.”
Shrestha also informed Chinese investors that Nepal has a plethora of opportunities for investment. “Our tax rates are among the lowest. There is also a conducive environment for business,” he said. “Nepal has investment opportunities in hydropower, tourism, agriculture, minerals, mining, and many other sectors.”
Mentioning the excellent relations and friendship between Nepal and China that have existed for centuries, Shrestha said Nepal has been working to expand the communication network through the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network under the Belt and Road Initiative of the Chinese government.
