KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a show cause notice against the Rastriya Swatantra Party’s decision to expel Dhaka Kumar Shreshta from the party and strip him of his position as a member of the House of Representatives.

The apex court has also issued a short-term interim order halting the implementation of the party’s decision to expel Shrestha.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) expelled him and revoked his position as a member of the House of Representatives after Shrestha was heard soliciting Rs 20 million from hospital operator Durga Prasain in an audio clip.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s decision, Shrestha had approached the court seeking legal intervention.

Meanwhile, Bindabasini Kansakar of RSP has become a member of the House of Representatives. RSP had submitted her name to the Election Commission (EC) for the post vacated by Shrestha.

According to EC, Kanskar received the certificate of election on Sunday. The EC has notified the same to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

However, Kansakar cannot be sworn in the oath of office and secrecy until the court pronounces its final verdict in the case.
