KATHMANDU: Minister for Water Supply Abdul Khan has resigned as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal prepares to expand his cabinet.
Khan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday.
Sources say Khan, who is also the vice chairman of Janamat Party, decided to step down as his party’s demands were ignored by Prime Minister Dahal.
Janamat Party had been demanding one of agriculture and industry portfolios. Khan had refused to assume office after he was assigned water supply ministry when Dahal formed the government on December 26 last year with the support of CPN-UML. He had assumed after a week only.
Dahal has given the industry portfolio to Nepali Congress.
Relation between Maoist Center and Janamat Party is said to have worsened after Maoister Center leader Shiva Chandra Kushbaha joined Janamat Party to contest the by-election in Bara-2.
