KATHMANDU: The Beni-Jomsom road will be closed for six and a half hours every day starting Monday for blacktopping
According to the District Administration Office, Myagdi, the Beni-Galeshwar section of the road will be closed three times daily: from 6-8 am, 11:30 am-1:30 pm, and 8:30-11:30 pm, starting Monday.
The local administration has informed that small vehicles and ambulances can use a diversion road from Dallepipal to Galeshwar via Rahuwada during the road closure.
The contract to blacktop the Beni-Galeshwar section (2.12 km) has been awarded to Jaya Dhanjaya-Mangaladevi-Subash JV for Rs 122.59 million.
According to Subah Karki, a representative of the construction company, the road will have a width of eight meters and a proper drainage system.
The Beni-Jomsom road is the entry point to popular tourist destinations such as Upper Mustang and Muktinath, and it is also a section of the Kaligandaki Corridor Highway that connects the Nepal-China border point at Korala.
