President addresses joint meeting of parliament

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has emphasized the need to revise laws to address delays in development projects.

Addressing a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Friday, President Bidya Devi Bhandari also said attention should be paid to consider the environmental impact assessments when implementing these projects. The goals of these projects should include expanding the road network to every ward level, providing roads for transporting local products to markets, promoting road safety and convenience, and prioritizing national security, she added.

The president has also called on the government to take effective measures to secure the lives and property of citizens. She also stressed the importance of prompt and efficient public service delivery and good governance. President Bhandari also said health insurance programs should be expanded to ensure accessible and affordable health services for all citizens.

Stating that Nepal has made notable achievements in the areas of women’s rights and development, President Bhandari also highlighted satisfactory progress made in the education and women’s sectors.

Bhandair also said needful arrangements should be made so that farmers get chemical fertilizers on time. She also emphasized the need to bring special programs to attain self-sufficiency in certain food products.
