POKHARA: Nepal Army Club has become the team champion in swimming in the ongoing 9th National Games, winning 20 gold, nine silver and as many bronze medals.
NRNA Acamdey finished second in the medal table, winning nine gold, six silver and 16 bronze medals. Nepal APF Club was in the third position with three gold, four silver and six bronze medals.
Nepal Army Club’s swimmers bagged four gold medals for their team on the day. Duwana Lama won the Women’s 400-meter Freestyle category with a timing of 4 minutes and 43.92 seconds. Nepal Police Club’s Migan Gurung won gold with a timing of 5 minutes 4.38 seconds, while Bagmati Province’s Tisa Maharjan won bronze clocking 5 minutes 7.36 seconds.
Similarly, in the Men’s 400-meter Freestyle, NRNA Academy’s Ashish Sapkota won the gold with a timing of 4 minutes 35.36 seconds. Province 1’s Prarambha Bhandari and Nepal APF Club’s Suren Bahadur Singh won silver and bronze medals clocking 5 minutes 12.09 seconds and 5 minutes 12.15 seconds, respectively.
In Women’s 100-meter Breaststroke, Nepal Army Club’s Duwana Lama clinched gold with the timing of 1 minute 16.63 seconds ahead of teammate Upasti Maharjan and Nepal Police’s Adipsa Baidya who clocked 1 minute 22.39 seconds and 1 minute 22.67 seconds to win silver and gold, respectively.
