KATHMANDU: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has recognized Nepali Congress as the main opposition party in the House of Representatives.
Writing a letter to the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Office on Monday, the secretariat said that the party’s parliamentary leader will get the facilities of the main opposition leader will be as provisioned in Act Related to Remuneration and Facilities of Officials and Members of Parliament, 2016.
The secretariat was responding to a letter written by Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, seeking facilities as the leader of the main opposition party in the House of Representatives.
There was confusion over whether NC will be the main opposition party in the lower house after it gave a confidence vote to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Nepal Workers and Peasants Party had also requested the secretariat to recognize it as the main opposition party in the House of Representatives.
