JANAKPURDHAM: Members of the Madhesh Province Assembly were sworn in on Friday.
Senior-most member Govinda Bahadur Neupane administered the oath of office and secrecy to 104 members of the province assembly. Two members – Mala Karna and Mohammad Razi Haidar – couldn’t be administered the oath of office and secrecy on Friday as their election to the province assembly under the proportional representation (PR) system has been challenged at the Supreme Court.
Madhesh Province Assembly has 107 members.
Of the 104 members who were sworn in on Friday, 53 took the oath in Nepali language, while 13 took the oath in Bajjika language. Similarly, 11 took the oath in Maithali and seven in Bhojpuri language. Two lawmakers each took the oath in Hindi and Magahi languages, while took the oath in Urdu language.
