JANAKPURDHARM: The Madhesh Province Committee of Nepali Congress has started preparation to elect the party’s parliamentary party leader in the Madhesh Province Assembly.
The party has formed a three-member committee under province vice president Chandra Shekhar Yadav to conduct the election. Province committee General Secretary Brihaspati Krishna Shrestha and Joint General Secretary Bindu Kumari Yadav are the other members of the team, according to Nitesh Gupta, chief of the province committee’s publicity department.
The committee has been formed as per Article 5 (3) of the NC’s province parliamentary party statute. According to Gupta, the committee will make efforts to forge a consensus for unanimous selection. “It will hold an election if there is more than one candidate,” Gupta said.
Province committee President Krishna Kumar Yadav, Ram Saroj Yadav, Birendra Sinngh and Janardan Chhetri are among the leaders who have expressed interest in contesting the election.
Meanwhile, the province committee has authorized province president Yadav to hold talks with other parties for the formation of province government.
