KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa have filed their candidacies for the party’s parliamentary party election.
Senior leader Ram Chanda Poudel is the proposer of Deuba’s candidacy, while party vice president Purna Bahadur Khadka is the seconder.
Interestingly, Poudel had been saying that he won’t support Deuba’s candidacy.
Similarly, leader of the anti-establishment faction of the party, Dr Shekhar Koirala, is the proposer of Thapa’s candidacy. Similarly, vice president Dhanaraj Gurung, general secretary Bishwa Prakas Sharma and leader Pradeep Pouderl are the seconders.
Eighty-nine members of the House of Representatives of the party will participate in the election to be held on Wednesday.
According to NC’s statute, only the parliamentary party leader can become the prime minister.
