KATHMANDU: CPN-Maiost Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday claimed the November 20 election for the House of Representatives and province assemblies was not conducted by Nepalis.
“I won’t talk about past elections because those were conducted by Nepalis. This election was different,” Dahal said, addressing a meeting of Press Center Nepal – an association of journalists close to the party.
Stating that the constitution was drafted and promulgated under the Maoist leadership, Dahal said implementation of the constitution won’t be easy. Dahal also underlined the need for an intra-party review of the election.
“This is a serious situation. We drafted the constitution, we promulgated it. We conducted the first election after the promulgation of the constitution. It’s no longer the same. It’s a bit serious,” he added. “If we do not make a serious review and move ahead without properly analyzing the international phenomena and the global situation that is heading towards polarization, we may have to see difficult days ahead.”
