KATHMANDU: Nepali movie ‘Aaina Jhyalko Putali’ (Butterfly on the Windowpane) has won four awards at India’s Kautik Film Festival.
According to Sujit Bidari, the director of the film, the film bagged the titles of Best Film, Best Editor, Best Actor and Best Actress at the awards. Kanchan Chimoriya and Dinesh Khatri were awarded as best actor and actress, respectively, while Kiran Shrestha received the title of best editor. Chimoriya and Khatri shared the award with Brittany Goodwin and Chrisk Korkali, respectively, of Cream of the Crop film.
The film, which was hailed by critics, has also become commercially successful. It has also been selected for leading international festivals like Busan International Film Festival (South Korea), Dhaka International Film Festival (Bangladesh), Asia Pacific Screen Award (Australia), and Jalin Film Festival of the Czech Republic.
This is Bidari’s debut film. It documents the struggle that a 13-year-old girl makes for her study.
