KATHMANDU: Bir Hospital will make 700 beds in its General Ward available to patients free of cost.
A meeting of the Governing Council of the National Academy of Medical Sciences held on Friday took the decision to this extent.
NAMS has said it would arrange Rs 50 million needed to make 700 beds free of cost from its internal sources.
Patients have been paying Rs 200 per day for the beds in General Ward so far.
NAMS Vice Chancellor Bhupendra Basnet, however, said patients in an intensive care unit (ICU) and cabins will have to pay the applicable fees.
