Govt opening employment bank soon: Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the government will open an employment bank to ensure employment to people based on their knowledge, capital, skills and technical capabilities.

Inaugurating the ‘Shramadhan Employment Fair’ in Biratnagar on Thursday, Dahal said the returnee migrant workers or those with skills and experience within the country will be encouraged to develop entrepreneurship by utilizing their expertise. “The government is implementing the concept of employment bank to develop entrepreneurship by utilizing the skills and experiences of returnee migrant workers or those within Nepal, and to work on the issues of demand and supply of employment,” Dahal said. “The government has made necessary provisions in the budget for the coming fiscal year to ensure employment based on the knowledge, capital, skills and technical capabilities of 100,000 returnees.”

Stating that the government will work in the labor sector to protect the rights and interests of workers in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and other policies and plans, the Prime Minister said the government is focused on strengthening the economy through remittances and promotion of domestic employment. He emphasized the need to integrate all sectors, ensuring safe and rewarding foreign employment in the short term and increasing employment within the country.

“The government’s goal is not only to address the problems faced by workers but also to enhance the skills and capabilities of those aspiring to enter the labor force by making them more competitive,” he said. “The employment bank will directly benefit many young people who want to join the workforce.”

Hailing the ‘Shramadhan Employment Fair’ as a meaningful program of the government, Dahal expressed confidence that it will play a special role in addressing all opportunities and challenges related to labor and employment through a one-door system.

Daha said that the government will accord high priority to the development of data centers and information technology. “An ecosystem for startups and innovation will be developed to create an entrepreneurial environment. Business incubation centers will be operated in all seven provinces,” he added.
