KATHMANDU: Leaders of three political parties have reached an understanding to form the Socialist Front.
In a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday, CPN (Maoist Center), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), and CPN (Unified Socialist) have agreed to form the front. Preparations are underway to make a formal announcement about the front on Monday.
Sources say a joint task force formed by the three parties is preparing the declaration of the front, which will be announced on Monday.
In addition to these three parties, the Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ and former UML leader Bamdev Gautam, who is spearheading the ‘communist unity movement’, are also preparing to join the front.
CPN-UML, however, has stated that it will not make an immediate decision about joining the front. Other left parties have also not made any decisions regarding joining the front.
