100 days of govt focused on good governance, institutional reform: Yadav

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal Chairperson Upendra Yadav has said that the first 100 days of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) government represent an initial phase of efforts toward good governance and institutional reform. He added that the real test of the government will depend on how effectively these are implemented and the results they deliver.

Posting a message on his social media page reviewing the government’s performance over the first 100 days, Yadav said the government’s initial period has been focused on improving governance, controlling corruption, restructuring the administration and making the state machinery more effective.

“The decision to prioritize reforms in governance systems and institutional changes over large populist programs is a positive step,” he said. “However, it would be premature to conclude whether the government has succeeded or failed at this stage. The long-term assessment of the government should be based on how effectively its policies, reforms and decisions are implemented, and what tangible changes they bring to people’s daily lives.”

He added that the country has yet to fully emerge from a prolonged political transition. “People, who once supported change, are now the most disillusioned. There still are serious challenges in areas such as education, healthcare, food security, strengthening democratic institutions, controlling corruption, ensuring good governance, employment generation, economic management, and political stability,” Yadav added
