Nepse up 23.94 points; Rs 5.2 billion worth of shares traded

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) continued its gaining streak for the fourth straight day and ended the session 23.94 points higher at 2,115.94 points on Tuesday.

This is the highest close since January 30 when the benchmark index closed at 2,119.61 points. The Nepse index has logged gains of nearly 98 points over the past four sessions.

Share prices of 194 companies advanced on the day, while 43 declined, and nine remained unchanged. Share prices of three companies hit the positive circuit of 10% during the session.

Pokhara Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 246.47 million traded. Next were CEDB Hydropower Development Company Ltd and Kalika Power Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 129.94 million and Rs 123.84 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, all the sub-indices, except for Development Bank and Trading, posted gains. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 3.55%. Next were Hydropower and Banking with gains of 2.16% and 1.77%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 5.2 billion were traded on the bourse through 73,667 transactions.
