Nepse extends gain to third day

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its gaining streak for a third straight session, posting a gain of 27.54 points to end trading at 2,092 points on Monday.

The benchmark index continued Sunday’s momentum and reached an intra-day high of 2,121.01 points in the first hour of trading on Monday. It, however, erased some gains but still ended the session 1.33% higher.

Share prices of 135 companies advanced on the day, while 107 declined and four remained unchanged. Share prices of four companies hit the positive circuit of 10% during the session. Pokhara Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with Rs 199.29 million worth of shares traded. Next were CEDB Hydropower Company Ltd and First Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd with turnovers of Rs 188.98 million and Rs 134.89 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, eight posted gains while five posted losses on the day. The Banking sub-index posted the highest gain of 4.18 points, while the biggest loss came from the Microfinance sub-index which was down by 0.65%.

Shares worth Rs 5.85 billion were traded on the bourse – the highest since January 22. Total market capitalization reached Rs 3.31 trillion.
