Gagan challenges Rabi to probe all charges against him

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has demanded the government to form probe committees to investigate all the issues raised by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, in his address to parliament on Sunday.

Organizing a press meet after Lamichhane’s address to the House of Representatives, Thapa said the government can form probe committees on the issues and scams mentioned by Lamichhane. “You seem to say that if you investigate me, I will also launch an investigation into you,” Thapa said. “There should be rigorous investigations, and if found guilty, there should be verdicts and actions.”

Thapa also challenged the home minister to investigate charges made against him. “I would like to request the home minister, again, to form an investigation committee to probe all allegations against me,” Thapa said in the press meet. “Even if the probe panel is formed with only members from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), it’s okay with me.”

The NC general secretary also alleged that there was an understanding between the CPN-UML and RSP to not raise the cooperative scandal and the Giri Bandhu scandal in parliament.
