KATHMANDU: Zimbabwe defeated Oman by eight wickets in their Group B fixture of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Batting first in Colombo, Oman were bowled out for 103 runs in 19.5 overs. In reply, Zimbabwe chased down the target, scoring 106 with eight wickets in hand and 39 balls remaining.
Oman made a disastrous start with the bat, losing five wickets for just 27 runs by the seventh over. Sufyan Mehmood (25) and Vinayak Shukla (28) offered some resistance, while Nadeem Khan scored 20 off 18 balls. Other Omani batters failed to reach double figures.
Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, and Brad Evans took three wickets each to bundle out Oman cheaply. Captain Sikandar Raza also contributed with a wicket.
Zimbabwe’s opening pair of Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani added 30 runs for the first wicket. Bennett remained unbeaten on 48, while Marumani scored 21 off 11 balls. Although Dion Myers was dismissed for a duck, Brendan Taylor scored 31 before being retired hurt, and Captain Raza remained not out on 5.
Sufyan Mehmood took two wickets for Oman.
