KATHMANDU: Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, has urged investigative agencies to start an investigation against him immediately if his position as the home minister is causing any difficulty.
Speaking at a press conference while leaving the ministry on Monday, Lamichhane said he was aware of various questions raised about him. “Many issues have been raised about me, and you are all witnesses that I have never told anyone to do this or not do that regarding my case,” he said. “I haven’t asked for anyone’s transfer, nor have I inquired about my investigation file through any means. However, if my position as minister is causing you any difficulty, you can now conduct a thorough investigation.”
He added that whoever makes mistakes should not be spared or protected.
Lamichhane’s name has been linked to a cooperative fraud case. There have been accusations that the investigation against him has been influenced since he was at the helm of the home ministry.
