Yeti Airlines crash: 40 bodies recovered from crash site

POKHARA: Rescue workers have recovered 40 bodies from Yeti Airlines crash site in Pokhara.

Assistant Chief District Officer of Kaski, Anil Shahi, said it is becoming difficult for rescue workers as the plane has crashed into the Seti River gorge

The aircraft with registration 9N-ANC took off at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at 10:33 am. The plane last contacted the Pokhara control tower at 10:50 am, according to a press statement issued by Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). It was scheduled to land at the newly-built Pokhara International Airport.

A total of 68 passengers and four crew members are on board. The passengers include 53 Nepali nationals, five Indians, four Russians, two South Koreans and one each from Argentina, Ireland, Australia and France.

A video posted on Twitter shows the aircraft flipping in the sky before it fell.

Emergency cabint meeting
Meanwhile, an emergency cabinet meeting is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

According to a minister, Priem Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal called the meeting to streamline rescue works.

Earlier, Prime Minister Dahal and Home minister reached Kathmandu to take stock of the search and rescue works.
