KATHMANDU: Sixteen bodies have been recovered from Yeti Airlines plane crash site in the Seti River gorge near Pokhara Airport, police say.
The ATR 72 aircraft left Kathmandu at 10:33 am to Pokhara. The flight takes approximately 25 minutes. But it crashed near the airport in the Seti River gorge, according to Dek Bahadur KC, Chief District Officer of Kaski.
The aircraft with registration 9N-ANC is carrying 72 passengers including four crew members. Six passengers are said to be minor.
It was the same aircraft that conducted a demonstration flight at the newly-built Pokhara International Airport on December 22. The new airport launched the commercial operation on January 1.
