Yadav Humagain to receive Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award

KATHMANDU: Dr Harihar Dev Pant Foundation has decided to confer Dr Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award on Yadav Humagain of Aarthik Abhiyaan business daily.

The award, established in memory of the late Dr. Harihar Dev Pant, who is widely regarded as the father of microfinance in Nepal, will be presented to Humagain in Kathmandu on September 6.

The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000 along with a certificate of appreciation.

Dr Pant dedicated most of his life to promoting economic development and poverty reduction in Nepal, pioneering the microfinance movement in the country. To preserve his legacy, the Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation has been honoring one outstanding economic journalist or media organization each year.

Past recipients of the award include the Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON), Gokarna Awasthi, Bishnu Belbase, Eliza Upreti, Mamata Thapa, Bijay Raj Khanal Yagya Banjade and Krishna Rijal.

The Foundation recognizes journalists who, through print, radio, television, and online platforms, contribute significantly to economic reporting and the broader development of the country.

Humagain, who has been writing on the economy for more than 15 years, was selected for the award for his impactful reporting and sustained contributions to the field, according to the foundation.
