Writs against decision to drop charges against Lamichhane referred to full bench RSP President Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: A writ petition filed against the decision of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to amend and withdraw organized crime and money-laundering charges against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane will now be heard by a full bench.

A division bench of Supreme Court Justices Binod Sharma and Abdul Aziz Musalman referred the case to a full bench on Sunday.

Hearings on the case had been ongoing since March 24.

Former Attorney General Sabita Bhandari Baral had decided to withdraw the money laundering and organized crime charges filed against Lamichhane.

Baral was appointed to the position by an interim government led by former Chief Justice Sushila Karki. KP Sharma Oli, who was removed by the Gen Z movement in September last year, was at the helm of the government when the charges were filed.

Yubaraj Poudel, Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi, and Advocate Abhas Regmi had filed separate writ petitions against the OAG decision at the Supreme Court.
