KATHMANDU: Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka and Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society (BNFS) on Saturday awarded winners of the ‘Essay Writing Competition-2023’ organized in November last year.
The top three winners received certificates, trophies and cash prizes, while writers of the 20 selected essays received certificates of achievement and trophies, according to a statement issued by the Nepali mission in Dhaka.
Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari, Chief Guest Prof Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibbur University, and Moshiur Ahmed, President of BNFS, awarded the winners.
A book entitled ‘From Himalayas to Bay of Bengal: Chronicles of Nepal-Bangladesh Friendship, a compilation of the 20 selected essays, was also launched on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Bhandari thanked the students for their participation in the competition and congratulated the winners for their outstanding achievements. He also commended them for providing their perspectives and insights into Nepal-Bangladesh relationship.
Chief Guest Prof Dr Sharfuddin Ahmed highlighted the cultural and linguistic similarities between Nepal and Bangladesh. He also commended the efforts of the Embassy and the BNFS in promoting friendship between the two countries through the events of public diplomacy.
A total of 386 students from 84 public and private universities in Bangladesh participated in the essay competition, the embassy added in the statement.
