KATHMANDU: Badikedar Rural Municipality of Doti has distributed Wi-Fi devices equipped with 4G SIM cards to 32 community basic schools.
The distribution of Wi-Fi devices will make teaching and learning more effective by incorporating new technology in education, according to Bibek Deuba, head of Education, Youth and Sports Department of Badikedar Rural Municipality.
There are 41 schools, including nine secondary schools, under Badikedar Rural Municipality. The secondary schools already have Internet services. The rural municipality has also created the posts of computer teachers at 22 schools.
According to the rural municipality, Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) will bear data cost of the Wi-Fi devices for two years. Each device costs Rs 73,900, according to the rural municipality.
