KATHMANDU: Senior political leaders from major parties cast their ballots at different polling stations across the country as voting for the House of Representatives elections began on Thursday.
Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli cast his vote at the Mahendra Shanti Secondary School polling station in Balkot. The polling station lies in the Bhaktapur-2 seat of the House of Representatives.
Similarly, Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa cast his ballot at Maitidevi Temple polling station in Kathmandu-4 constituency.
Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, cast his ballot at the Nepal Police School polling station in Chitwan-3.
Likewise, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, cast his vote at the Panitanki polling station in Mahankal, Kathmandu-3. The party’s senior leader and prime ministerial candidate, Balen Shah, voted at the Annapurna English School polling station in Kathmandu-1.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, Kul Man Ghising, cast his vote at the Jana Kalyan Secondary School polling station in Mahankal of Kathmandu-3.
Former Acting President of the Nepali Congress, Purna Bahadur Khadka, voted at the Surya Jyoti Secondary School polling station in Surkhet-1.
Similarly, CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel cast his vote at the Janata Vidyapeeth School polling station in Dang-1.
President of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rajendra Lingden, cast his ballot at the Haldibari-1 Ward Office polling station in Jhapa-3.
Polling began at 7 am across the country and will continue until 5 pm. A total of 275 members of the House of Representatives – 165 from the FPTP system and 110 from the PR system – will be elected from this election.
