We were not aware of tensions in Balkumari area: Minister Jwala Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Development Prakash Jwala

KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Development, Prakash Jwala, has said that he was not aware of the protest by EPS examinees in the Balukumari area of Lalitpur.

The protesters torched Minister Jwala’s car, and two youths died when the protesters clashed with the police.

Talking to reporters at the office of the CPN (Unified Socialist) on Friday, Jwala said he is saddened by the death of the two youths. “I express my profound grief over the incident. We had no information about the protest, nor were we related to that protest in any way. It had no relation whatsoever with our ministry,” Jwala said. “The protesters stopped the car when we were heading to the ministry. They deflated the tires and set it on fire. This is very unfortunate.”

Jwala said there was no reason to torch his car. “The loss of government property is deplorable,” he added.
